“I… I don’t know… We must have somehow swapped bodies…”
Talk about an awkward conversation. Somehow, me and my friend Stacy had swapped bodies. All I could remember from last night was having a strange dream about becoming Stacy, body and mind. I’d had the fantasy before, but last night it seemed so real. Maybe my wish had finally come true.
“What are we gonna do!?”
I couldn’t answer her. Of course, part of me knew we should swap back. I had a good life, and I don’t know much about Stacy’s. Staying in her body could prove to be problematic. But a small part of me couldn’t help but hope this swap was permanent.
“Look Stacy, maybe it’s a one-day deal kind of thing. Maybe if we just try to live each other’s live for a day, this whole situation will be reversed.”
“But we can’t do that! You don’t know anything about my life. Like, what’s my boyfriend’s name?”
“Mark,” I responded, almost automatically.
“You… you’ve never met Mark! How did you know that?”
“I… I don’t know. It… it feels like I’m slowly starting to remember my… I mean, your life.”
“I… I’m starting to notice it, too. Like, I’m remembering all of your engineering knowledge.”
“Yeah, and I’m remembering all your beauty parlor skills. This is weird…”
“Maybe you’re right. With each other’s knowledge, we should be okay for the day. And there’s not much else we can do but wait for us to switch back.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right…” I didn’t want to scare her, but I wasn’t just gaining her knowledge. I could slowly feel myself forgetting my old life. Maybe things will be different tomorrow…
