Another Witch

“Um, no I don’t believe you, Mom.”

“I know you’re too smart to believe in magic, but it’s true. Watch.” She waved her hand and the can of soda in her son’s hand gently flew away from his grasp and floated mid-air, before transforming before his very eyes into a vase of flowers, then gently resting on the coffee table in front of them.

“I told you, Jimmy. I’m a witch. Really.”

“I–I–I– I can’t believe it. How? Why? Since when? Why are you telling me? Why didn’t you before? What…”

“Well, I’ve been a witch all my life. Your grandmother was a witch, too, and her mother, and her mother, and so on. The power is always inherited by the witch’s daughter. And that’s what I need to tell you about today.”

“This is incredible! But wait, it passes on, but only to daughters? I’m an only child, you don’t have a daughter. So is the magic going to go away?”

“No. The magic just needs to find a suitable form. For you to receive this gift, the magic will have to change you into a girl.”

“I’d have to change into a girl to gain your abilities? But that’s crazy!”

“It’s not so crazy. My grandmother, your great-grandmother, was born a boy as well, and he received the gift when he became she. I didn’t learn this until after she died, when my own mother told me.”

“I don’t know if I can do that. Magic is one thing, but my body, my manhood, my life, my girlfriend? Oh what would she think of all this?”

“Um, Jimmy. I need you to understand something. The power is ALWAYS inherited by the daughter. You don’t actually have a say in it. Neither of us do. The forces of magic will do what they will, and they will turn you into a beautiful flower of a woman, I guarantee it. It’ll happen tonight.”

“Tonight?? Why–my birthday?? Why did you wait so long to tell me this? I can’t believe this! What am I going to do!”

“I promise this will all be alright. The magic will change more than just your body. And I’m afraid I didn’t tell you before because, well, I didn’t know how. How do you tell your son to prepare for the day when he’s no longer a son? How would you have prepared, anyways? That’s I’ve asked myself every day, at least, and now here we are.” Jimmy was stunned. “You should get some rest, sweetie. Try to get some sleep.”

Jimmy couldn’t believe what his mother had said. It was literally unbelievable. What was he even thinking believing her? He lied in bed and eventually found his way to a nervous sleep.

When Jenny awoke, she saw a different room than she was used to. Most of her things were the same as they’d been when she was a boy the day before, but some of the decorations, accessories, and all the clothing was different. She got of bed, realizing she was completely naked. She timidly walked toward the full body mirror on her closet door, and gazed at her new body. She was immediately struck by her own beauty. Her skin was beautiful and smooth, her figure was deliciously curvy, her crotch was flat and hairless, and her long brown hair drooped playfully around her face. She couldn’t believe it. It was completely different than the body she’d had as Jimmy. But now she was Jenny.

Wait, Jenny? Who’s Jenny? How did she know that was her name? She looked around and saw the name on the homework on her desk. Then she saw her favorite shirt as a man, draped as always over the back of her desk chair. She picked it up and slipped it on. It was as comfortable as she remembered it, and she still loved the way it fit, even though now it hung on her curves different than it used to.

She tenderly walked to the door and ventured outside her bedroom. Her mom had to see.

“Mooom? I’m up. It’s me…Jenny.”
