A carefree day

The office clock ticked by as Alan kept glancing at it and feeling more tired and stressed out with each passing minute. He was under intense pressure to meet his boss’s deadline for the new advertisement, yet he felt trapped and uncreative at his desk.

“Goodness, if only I had Patti here to help; her art skills and creativity would help me ace this!” Patti was his beloved daughter visiting home on summer break from RISD, the famous Rhode Island School of Design. She was smart, innovative, and bold—hands down a better designer than her father. Right now she was probably just rolling out of bed and grabbing some cereal for a late breakfast before her morning run at the park. She’d worked hard at school and was enjoying the lazy pace of her summer break. Ah, the joys of youth.

Alan smiled wistfully as he thought of his darling daughter’s mussed-up hair as she came down the stairs after sleeping in late, just as she did all summer. “Right this moment I could really use a breather. I wish I could be carefree like Patti, just one carefree day!”

No sooner had Alan spoken the words than he felt cool and exposed, with soft hair tickling his ears and neck. Amazingly, he was standing in his own kitchen in a frilly bra and pink shorts, which he recognized as Patti’s! The kitchen phone rang and he ran to get it.

“Daddy??!!”
